Hystorie

Cookies

There is no advertising, no tracking and no third-party analytics on Hystorie. What is stored on your device is listed here in full — including browser storage, which most cookie policies quietly leave out.

What we do not do

No advertising cookies. No analytics or measurement cookies. No social media pixels. No profiling, no cross-site tracking, and nothing sold or shared with data brokers. Declining non-essential cookies on the banner costs you nothing, because there are none to decline.

Cookies

  • cookieConsent — records that you answered the cookie banner, so it stops asking. Set only once you click. Essential.
  • hystorie_session — set only if you sign in with an email code, so the site knows it is still you. Signed, and it holds your email address and nothing else. Cleared when you sign out. Essential.

Browser storage

These are stored by your browser for this site and are never sent to us automatically the way a cookie is.

  • hy_owner_… — the key that proves an archive is yours to edit. This is the important one. It is what lets you add to an archive without an account, and it is why you should also give an email address or keep the link somewhere safe. If you clear this site’s data and have no email on the archive, you can still read and print it, but you may not be able to add to it again.
  • hy-theme — whether you chose light or dark, so the page does not flash white at you on the next visit.

Other people's cookies

When you pay, checkout is handled on Stripe’s own pages, and Stripe sets cookies it needs for fraud prevention and to complete the payment. Those are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy. Nothing on Hystorie’s own pages loads a third-party tracker.

Getting rid of them

Every browser lets you clear cookies and site data, usually under Privacy or History. Read the warning above about the owner key before you do it for this site — it is the one place where clearing storage has a real cost.
